Factory prefabrication — why it beats on-site construction

From factory to foundation in 7 days. See how we manufacture wall panels under humidity control, why it eliminates installer mistakes and cuts build time by 70%.

Wall panel prefabrication in the Wood Solutions factory

Classic on-site timber frame construction looks like: planks, hammers, a crew in open air, rain, frost, mud. Factory prefabrication flips this 180 degrees — panels are made in a humidity-controlled hall on CNC machines, and only assembly is left on site. The difference is fundamental.

Wood Solutions production line — 6 stations

  1. Wood cutting — CNC machine cuts KVH C24 to ±1 mm precision.
  2. Frame assembly — studs, sole and head plates joined into frames.
  3. OSB sheathing — pneumatic press fixes OSB-3 to the frame.
  4. Insulation — 200 mm mineral wool placed between studs.
  5. Vapour barrier — continuous foil with sealing tape; no piercing.
  6. Installation grid + finishing panel — final GK or Fermacell, ready for plaster.

Why it beats “on-site”

  • Weather independence — no rain, no wind, no frost. Production runs 12 months a year.
  • Dry, controlled timber — 12% moisture vs 18–25% in standard wholesale wood.
  • Machine precision — CNC ±1 mm vs human ±5 mm.
  • Station-by-station QC — 6 inspection points vs 1 final.
  • No material waste — software calculates <0.5% waste vs 8–12% on site.
  • Safety — low-energy assembly, no high-altitude work in rain.

On-foundation assembly — 7–10 working days

After production, all panels are foiled, packed into truck loads and transported to site. Assembly:

  1. Day 1 — ground floor walls, set and synced.
  2. Day 2 — wooden floor on I-joists.
  3. Day 3 — upper floor / attic walls.
  4. Day 4–5 — roof structure, primary membrane covering.
  5. Day 6–7 — final roof covering (metal or tile).
  6. Day 8–10 — windows and exterior doors.

After 10 days the building is weather-tight — you can do interior finishing regardless of weather. This cuts overall project time by 60–70% compared to on-site construction.

What about winter assembly?

Yes, we assemble in winter. Foil on panels protects insulation during transport, and assembly takes 7–10 days — much shorter than any concrete work. Standard work: temperature > −10°C, no heavy precipitation. In mild winters we do 40–50% of annual orders.
